Small business now has a new way to save money and energy

The Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DECC) is recruiting small businesses across NSW to a new program that helps reduce power bills and carbon pollution.

The Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program offers subsidised energy assessment, a tailored action plan and a rebate of up to $5,000 for making energy efficiency improvements that can save businesses money as well as reduce their impact on the environment.

After an onsite energy assessment, businesses will receive an action plan to help them save electricity by improving the efficiency of existing equipment or installing new equipment that is more energy efficient. Return on investment timeframes are included in the plan for each action identified.

A rebate of up to $5,000 is available to pay for half of the costs to implement action plan recommendations that have a return on investment period of more than two years. Rebates will be paid for improvements to lighting, including skylights, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, boilers, air compressors, commercial refrigeration, electric motors and insulation.

You can take part if your business spends up to about $20,000 a year on electricity or employ up to about 10 people.

Alternatively, if you are a medium to large business, you can register for DECC's Sustainability Advantage Energy Saver program to help you become more energy efficient.

GLADESVILLE/RYDE POLICE                                                              Community Area

Gladesville Local Area Command is one of two policing Commands that provides a number of services on behalf of New South Wales Police Force to the City of Ryde Council area.

The Crime Prevention Officer from the Gladesville Local Area Command will be attending the Expo to support local Businesses by providing information on a broad range of crime preventative measures. This information includes safety audits for businesses and their staff; and safety checklists to ensure a strategic approach to crime prevention. These checklists include property theft, malicious damage, fraud, business crime, robbery and other personal safety crimes affecting personal safety. A Crime Prevention Kit for Small Businesses will also be available.

The NSW Police Force will be promoting the importance of registering Local Businesses in ‘Biz Keys' and the newly launched crime fighting tool, the ‘Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Register' (CCTVR). This CCTVR aims to map camera locations of were CCTV is installed in order to provide police with important information, should a copy of the CCTV footage be considered useful in investigations.

The structure is constructed over two (2) levels of basement car parking which also includes warehousing and storage areas, with two office towers of four (4) and six (6) floors totalling some (15,000) square metres of office space.

Tower One will be occupied by Hyundai with a large ground floor reception / foyer showcasing the brand on Lane Cove Road, while the Technical Training facility overlooks Hyundai Drive to the south. Tower Two is for future growth of the organisation and will be tenanted until required in the future.

The facility includes a modern staff restaurant complete with outdoor seating area and a fully equipped and managed gymnasium for Hyundai Motor Company Australia's employees and tenants.


Hyundai has put considerable efforts into improving the environmental impact and safety of its passenger and commercial vehicles which should be an important consideration for fleet managers who can now get the right balance of safety and total operating costs from the Hyundai range.

Work Placement for students who are studying a Vocational Course (TAFE Certificate) as part of their HSC in a framework course such as entertainment, retail, electro-technology, IT, construction, tourism, business services, hospitality etc. Work placement is a mandatory part of these courses.

Career & Transition Support Program - Targets youth and also those who influence their career choices such as teachers, parents, employers, youth service providers and career advisers. The program includes industry tours, presentations, resources, expos, information events, mentoring programs etc.

A current major project is a series of public Forums to identify issues around employment , to look at the assets in the community and to then build community alliances in the regions community asset building through involving stakeholders in.
